Affective and full of personality decoration in a rented apartment

Roberta and Bruno worked hard to decorate a small rented apartment in São Paulo. They renovated environments, fixed imperfections and bet on items of affective decoration and full of meaning for both, so the spaces gained style and well reflect the personality of the couple. Find out more about this home:

Residence type: apartment

Area: 90 m²

City: Sao Paulo, SP

Residents: Roberta is a mathematician and musician and her hobby is macramé and sewing. Her husband Bruno is a journalist and musician. Both share a love for taking care of plants. Along with them, two adorable little dogs also live, Duda and Paçoca.

Differential: the challenges in decoration began with the size of the apartment, which was smaller than the couple’s former residence, and the furniture, which gained a new function in the new house. Roberta says: “the old buffet that supported the stereo had to go to the kitchen, and today it holds the dishwasher and stores the food”. In addition, Roberta’s sewing and macramé studio had to be merged with the couple’s music studio. And because of the Covid-19 pandemic, it also ended up becoming an office. With surprise, she says “it looked like it wouldn’t fit, but everything went right”.

Own style in a rented apartment

MY RENTED

Roberta’s taste for decoration is old, she says that she always liked to take care of the house and remembers “over the years, I’ve been experimenting with some styles, such as minimalist and Scandinavian and I realized that it would be difficult (not to mention bland) to keep faithful to any of them.” Thus, she also realized that the coolest thing is that the home has the face of its residents. For the couple, music is a very strong element and is spread all over the house: “from the turntable when Bruno was a child, through our records, musical instruments, even paintings with concert posters”.
