Suellen and her husband Evaldo embarked together in 2019 on the adventure of decorating an apartment. For them, the priority was the open concept and the integration of spaces. Aiming for breadth, the couple invested with everything in white and bet on influences from Scandinavian, boho, classic and industrial decor. Find out more about the history of this lovely home:
Residence type: apartment
Area: 90 m2
City: Santo André, Sao Paulo
Residents: fashion designer Suellen shares a home with her husband Evaldo and their 12-year-old son Antony also lives with them.
Differential: to follow the open concept, Suellen and Evaldo decided to integrate the social environments with the balcony and, in order to guarantee amplitude and continuity, they fearlessly bet on a light palette. The relaxed and cozy touch is due to the green of the vegetation, as Suellen says “the little plants brought beauty and, of course, the decoration of the house would not be the same without them.”
A spacious and comfortable home with light colors
With a light palette and wood joinery, the small apartment gained amplitude and comfort. To save money, the couple also got their hands dirty: “we took care of the painting of the walls, we painted the sinks in the bathrooms, shower areas […], we installed baseboards and made the boiserie”. There are still details to be finalized, but for Suellen, “each new corner that is born, makes us feel even more at home.”
Scandinavian style kitchen
With a simple design and a smooth combination of white and wood, the kitchen captures the eye right away in the apartment. The colors and details in the space recall the Scandinavian style.
full social integration
By removing the balcony door, the entire social space was integrated. Highlight for the polyurethane floor, which continuously covers all environments.
Shelves and plants in the living room
Shelves are practical in the decoration of the living room and help to keep everything well organized. Plants bring life and leave everything with a more relaxed and pleasant air.
A mix in the decoration of the environments
The mix of styles and materials is present throughout the apartment and Suellen says that it is “a mix of everything I like and I think it works together”. She also adds “I chose a lot of white to bring lightness, wood to give coziness, photography to bring feeling, iron to make it modern and geometric prints to make it relaxed.”
A super charming runner
Simple details conquer throughout the apartment. In the hallway, the wooden coat rack enchants with a minimalist design and a small frame adds a touch of color.
Industrial and modern bathroom
As in the rest of the apartment, the social bathroom has white as the main color. The black metals and the subway tile print the industrial style and bring a modern air to the composition.
A little pink in a white house
While in one bathroom the classic black and white prevails, in the other, the pink hexagonal coating surprises and leaves the environment with a romantic and delicate look.
Mirror in the entrance hall
The mirror in the foyer is a great trick to bring more spaciousness to the small space. Here, this decorative item also helps Suellen check out her everyday looks.
For Suellen, “the house is a continuation of what we are”. And so, in a simple and little way, they printed their own style in the environments. And to find more ideas for your apartment’s social space, take the opportunity and also see small living room ideas .
