Carey Hart gave us her best-kept secret about her two-decade marriage to Pink.
“I’m 19, so I still get called an idiot,” Hart, 49, joked exclusively. Us every week while discussing his appearance on Special Forces: the toughest test in the world. “I can’t wait until I’m 35 and I’m not an idiot anymore.”
All joking aside, Hart had a real answer to share with us.
“I guess it's the communication, having a teammate [and] talk about bad situations,” Hart said. “Marriage is not easy and it always comes up on the table.”
Hart and Rose, 45, met in 2001married in 2006. Although they separated two years later, they eventually reconciled in 2010. The singer and Hart welcomed daughter Willow and son Jameson in 2011 and 2016 respectively.
According to Hart, he and Pink are “very competitive in all areas.”
“Everything is a competition, especially with me,” Hart joked. “We are extremely competitive people.”
The former motocross rider will then bring his competitive spirit to Special Forces season 3, but it was certainly “hard” to be separated from Pink and the kids.
“My wife is about to complete a 2 year tourthat I came from touring to do this show, and we eat, sleep, breathe together and so, yeah, it was difficult,” Hart admitted to We. “It was probably a nice vacation for my wife, being away from me for a few weeks, but it was hard.”
Missing home eventually became a “secondary thought” for Hart after being “so immersed” in her Special Forces training.
“Once you get there and you get on that boat for the start of the show, the intensity and the lack of sleep, and the lack of thought processes about anything other than what you're doing at that moment” , Hart remembers. “Your nerves are on edge, your anxieties are at their peak, your adrenaline is at its peak. It was just a total immersion situation.
This does not mean that any part of the Special Forces was easy to approach.
“For me, the hardest part was the unknown. We all control our lives. We get out of bed, we go about our day, we make decisions,” Hart said. “When you give up those opportunities to decide for yourself, to align, to follow the DS and to have that experience; this was probably the most shocking piece for me.
Hart also learned to “dig a little deeper” to continue overcoming obstacles with each task.
“It's easy to throw in the towel in everyday life, and in this situation, if you threw in the towel, you went home,” Hart said.
Special Forces: the toughest test in the world Season 3 premieres on Fox on Wednesday, January 8 at 8 p.m. ET.
