Huger, 61, was convicted of driving under the influence and four other charges on Wednesday, December 18, although she was acquitted of careless driving. In police dashcam footage from the night of March 19, Huger can be seen sitting in the passenger seat of a police vehicle and telling a police officer that she is nicknamed the “Grande Dame” – a reference to her nickname on RHOP – and that “Andy Cohen did this”. She continues: “I don’t know what it is.”
After being taken to the local police station, a police body camera pictures then shows Huger appearing to disagree with a police officer and at one point referring to herself as “Thomas Jefferson's concubine”.
Huger was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, failure to control speed to avoid a collision and failure to notify authorities of a change of address in court Wednesday, according to Fox 5 DC. (We Weekly contacted Bravo for comment on the verdict.)
“While we are disappointed by the jury's verdict, we of course respect their decision and appreciate the time they are taking to hear our case,” Huger's attorney said. A.Scott Boldensaid People in a statement. “We continue to reserve Ms. Huger’s right to appeal and intend to fully pursue justice on her behalf.” We appreciate your support and prayers for Ms. Huger and her family at this time.
In March, Huger was involved in a car accident in Potomac, Maryland. Montgomery County Police told TMZ at the time Huger was driving her 2017 Maserati “aggressively” in Potomac when she struck an intersection crosswalk sign and a parking sign.
She was not arrested but received several citations from police at the time. She was later charged with DUI and DWI.
During her trial, police camera footage showed an officer telling her she had been “hammered” as she appeared to slur her words, reported Fox 5 DC. Several witnesses testified during the trial, including a paramedic who said Huger refused treatment at the scene of the accident and “wobbling” when she tried to get into an ambulance.
At the time of the accident, Huger said she was suffering emotional distress.
“Thank you everyone for your prayers and well wishes during this very scary experience. I'm still in shock from last night's incident, but grateful to be alive today. With the passing of my beloved mother, grief comes and goes in waves, and as Mother's Day approaches, it feels more like a tsunami,” Huger TMZ in a March press release. “Last night I met a girlfriend for dinner and we talked and covered some very emotionally sensitive topics. I was crying when I got home and saw a car heading straight towards me. I swerved to avoid the head-on collision, hit the partition then a tree. I'm hurt, a little bruised, but so grateful to be alive! I received tickets, including one unrelated to the incident, which is understandable, but the most surprising thing is that the car that almost hit me drove away!
She concluded: “I would like to emphasize that it is important to understand your emotional state when driving and that this can remind everyone to use their seat belt. My mother may be my guardian angel but the seat belt saved my life.”
Huger is scheduled to be sentenced on January 29, 2025.
