This evening DAZN PPV The co-feature fight between Serhii Bohachuk and Ishmael Davis has an excellent chance of stealing the spotlight from the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk 2 rematch in the main event at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Bohachuk-Davis: Stealing the show?
Former WBC interim junior middleweight champion Bohachuk (24-2, 23 KOs) was involved in what many believe to be the fight of the year in his last fight against Vergil Ortiz Jr. on August 10 . Bohachuk only knows one way to fight: attack constantly. On the other hand, the Fury-Usyk 2 headliner could end up being a chess match and lacking in drama.
To save the card, Bohachuk and Davis will have to thrill the fans who command the event. live on DAZN PPV. The undercard is absolutely horrible, and it's the only good fight outside of the main event. This one might not be great if Fury struggles like a bear and boxes Usyk. Bohachuk-Davis will be a real fight, and it's almost guaranteed to be a knockout.
Davis upset Bohachuk?
Ishmael Davis (13-1, 6 KO) will fight more aggressively, knowing that this is his big chance to continue to appear on Turki Alalshikh's cards. He knows that if he wins this match against Bohachuk, it will earn him another nice payday.
Bohachuk vs. Davis is a WBC 154-pound title eliminator. The winner will be the mandatory of the champion Sebastian Fundora. However, they likely won't get a title shot against whoever holds the WBC belt, as Fundora is scheduled to fight Errol Spence Jr. in early 2025, and he could choose to face interim champion Vergil Ortiz Jr.
Still, whoever emerges victorious from tonight's battle between Bohachuk and Davis will eventually have a chance to win the world title, whether in 2025 or 2026.
“I have a feeling this one will start in the first round. Bohachuk will pick up where he left off when he fought Vergil Ortiz [on August 10th]. It was perhaps the fight of the year. It was fantastic,” Ade Oladipo told DAZN Boxingspeaking about Serhii Bohachuk at the weigh-in for his Saturday night fight against Ishmael Davis.
Bohachuk will force Ishmael to fight more aggressively than he normally does, as he will be left abandoned for the entire fight. Davis uses a three-step drop after throwing shots or when being chased, but this approach won't work against Bohachuk because it will cut off the ring, forcing him to fight.
The normal dive and clinch that Davis uses won't work well if he tries this tactic tonight, as Bohachuk is good at hitting his opponents when they try to grab him. He is also good at fighting while restrained. Davis might not last long if he chooses a different strategy in this fight. Once again, this is an important fight for Davis, and he needs to pull out all the stops if he wants to win. He's not going to win by sending Bohachuk. That's what he said he was going to try.
Bohachuk favored
“It’s still a WBC final eliminator. This is one of the easiest choices. Many people thought Bohachuk defeated Vergil Ortiz. I like Bohachuk in this fight,” Dan Rafael told Bet. “He has 24 victories including 23 by knockout. The only guy who went the distance with him was Vergil Ortiz.
“He suffered a knockout defeat several years ago [against Brandon Adams on March 4, 2021]. Bohachuk wins this fight. I think he knocks out his opponent [Davis]. I think he wins. I think he will show his talent and put himself in position to fight for a title.
“While I give a lot of credit to Ishmael for taking this fight on short notice and being paid well for it, I like Bohachuk in this fight.”
Davis is fortunate to not only get a fight following a 12-round split decision loss to Josh Kelly on September 21, but also fight in the WBC 154-pound title eliminator. If he can win this fight, he will fight for a world title and earn a seven-figure salary.
“Ishmael Davis took this fight on very short notice. I think it's 10 days, if that's the case. He is a British level fighter. He has a defeat. He's not a big puncher. There are no big wins on his record and no mid-sized wins on his record. I'm not saying he's not good, but he's never done it before. He doesn’t have a lot of pinch power and he gets into the fight on very short notice,” Rafael said.
