Boxer Tyson Fury trained tirelessly for his next struggle with Alexander Ousykand this took a toll on his personal life.
Fury, 36, is looking to avenge the defeat he suffered in May when Usyk, 37, beat him in a split decision victory after 12 rounds. It's the only loss of his career.
As Tyson prepared, he said Queensbury Promotions Dev Sahni that he did not say “a single word” to his wife, The Parisian furyin months.
“I have been away from my wife and children for three months. I haven’t spoken at all in Paris for three months,” he said. “I sacrificed a lot.”
Tyson added that he's looking forward to “lots of eggnog, tarts and turkeys” for Christmas after the fight. And if he manages to win, the sacrifice will be “100% worth it”.
Fans got to know Tyson's family last year in the Netflix docuseries At home with the Furys. He and Paris share seven children: daughters Venezuela, 15, Valencia, 7, and Athena, 3, as well as sons Prince John James, 13, Prince Tyson, 8, and Prince Adonis Amaziah, 5.
“Tyson and I had always intended to pursue the big [Irish] Traveling tradition and having a big family: three children at least, we would say, maybe even 10 if we were lucky,” Paris wrote in her 2021 book, Love and Fury: The magic and chaos of life with Tyson.
Tyson, for his part, said he recognized how lucky he was to have a supportive wife throughout his training – and the ups and downs of his career.
“To have a wife who has been with you all this time and been through…the good times and the bad… [for her] to always be there when you don’t want to be and when you’re forced to leave and kicked out, it takes a very strong individual,” Tyson said. The overlap in a September 2021 interview.
As for the fight, Tyson is brimming with confidence. He quickly dismissed any thoughts that his age has caught up telling him that he feels as good as he has ever felt.
“I feel very good. I fought more than I have in years and I was able to do things that I have always been able to do,” he insisted.
He continued: “I would be the first to say, 'You know what, I'm done,' but I'm not, I'm very far from it, I feel very good. I can't wait Saturday night's fight I will end his career. After this, you will never hear from Oleksandr Usyk again.
